Nikka Whisky : Moonshine Announced as Partner in Cambodia

Moonshine is now the official exclusive partner and Nikka representative.

Moonshine Asia is thrilled to be announced as the official Nikka Whisky Distilling representative of Cambodia by La Maison du Whisky (LMDW) Asia-Pacific, the regional South-East Asia distributor.

Moonshine celebrated its appointment alongside PT Puri Artha Niaga in Indonesia, and Grand Cru Wines & Spirits in The Philippines, as LMDW APAC established official national partnerships to import Nikka’s wide range of whiskies, gin and vodka. Moonshine will establish Nikka’s presence, supplying retailers, supermarket and wholesale stockists, as well as bars, hotels and restaurants in Cambodia.

Through strategic marketing initiatives and brand experiences, Moonshine will elevate Nikka’s presence in the country. On the event of Nikka’s 90th anniversary this year, their combined efforts with LMDW APAC will shine a light on the rich history and unwavering commitment to quality that defines Masataka Taketsuru’s institution as a historic Japanese whisky producer.

Cambodia, Indonesia and The Philippines join the expanding partners Nikka and LMDW APAC work with in South-East Asia. A presence in Malaysia was first established under Tong Woh Enterprise Sdn Bhd in 2021, followed by Bootleggers Trading Co., Ltd. for Thailand in 2023.

Arthur Morbois, Managing Director of LMDW APAC, said: “We’re very proud to extend Nikka Whisky’s presence in the South-East Asian region. We’re convinced our selected partners will help to develop even more the Japanese spirits category in their respective markets.”

Through Moonshine’s efforts, Nikka's diverse portfolio of whiskies, gin and vodka will become readily available across various on and off-trade channels, such as bars, hotels, wholesalers and supermarkets.

A Legacy of Innovation

Nikka's story begins in 1934 with Masataka Taketsuru, the "Father of Japanese Whisky”. Taketsuru established Yoichi Distillery on Hokkaido, the northernmost island of Japan.

In 1969, Taketsuru opened Miyagikyo Distillery, equipped with the-then more modern technology to produce a lighter-style whisky intended to complement the robust Yoichi malts.

Celebrate 90 Years of Nikka

2024 marks Nikka's 90th anniversary. To commemorate this occasion and highlight the excellence of its spirits to the wider public, Nikka will once again appear as a World Whisky sponsor at the 50 Best Bars and the 50 Best Hotels recognising the top on-trade establishments of the year.

Through targeted market activations, Nikka aims to connect with quality-conscious consumers eager to discover the legacy and exceptional offerings that define the brand.

These associations with entertainment and lifestyle showcase its forward-thinking approach to the future, establishing its whiskies, gin and vodka as vital ingredients behind bars in Cambodia.
